We had an amazing time this year and we want to thank EVERYONE who came out to support the show from our audiences to our sponsors, comics, volunteers and filmmakers. We’re about to go to sleep for the next three days, and we recommend you all do the same. But before we do, here are our official winners from last night! It’s worth noting that everyone did an amazing job and all of the comics and films were extremely well received. Congrats to everyone involved!
BEST COMEDIAN – George P. Gordon III
BEST FILM – The Dark Companion by Darrell Hazelrig
BEST LOCAL COMEDIAN – Adam Cayton-Holland
BEST LOCAL FILM - Guns, Drugs and Synergy by Matt O’Connor
This year we’re bringing in tons of comics from all over the country. But we’re also inviting Colorado’s best comics to the show, because, well, we might run into them at Whole Foods and we don’t want them to get mad at us.
Meet MATT MONROE!
Are you an organization that is socially conscious, but you need help getting the word out? If no one’s listening to you, talk to Open Media Foundation, a non-profit media and technology company located here in Denver. They offer production equipment and tools to help find your next project the audience it deserves. Need to brush up on your editing skills? You can take a class without enrolling in an expensive film school. They’ll put the tools and education into your hands. Visit http://openmediafoundation.org/ for details. We’re stoked to announce that our “Local Favortives” winning comedian and filmmaker will receive a free membership this year.
Check out the Colorado Comedy Block sponsored by Denver Open Media on Friday August 3rd at 7pm @ The Oriental Theater! The show will be broadcast live on Denver Open Media Channel 57. Click here to buy tickets!
Bowling parties are not new to Laugh Track, or our partner fest Festivus Film Festival. We have them every year. However, this is the first year we’ll be doing it after dark. After our last comedy block at The Bug we’re moving the party a few blocks down to Elitch Lanes for late night bowling. Filmmakers and comedians bowl and drink for free. This event is an awesome way to meet the filmmakers and comedians and other attendees, and kick this festival off right!
This event is Thursday August 2nd at 10:30pm @ Elitch Lanes.
When they say you can do just about everything on your computer these days, that’s because companies like Sony Creative Software make it possible. They’re one of our favorite sponsors this year, and if you’ve ever used their software you’d understand why. Vegas Pro, ACID, and Sound Forge make it affordable to do pretty much what the professionals can do. They’re great programs for laptop producers and video editors. If you need some audio sweetened, or editing software with an easy interface, go with Sony Creative Software.
This year we’re bringing in tons of comics from all over the country.
Laugh Track: How long have you been a stand-up comic?
Tom: 2 years
What other comics will you be watching during the festival?
I’ve always been into Chicago comedy, so it’ll be cool to see Jay Washington. It’ll also be a great experience for me to see what everyone from the Denver scene has to offer. (more…)
Today’s sponsor spotlight is on The Comic Bible. If you’re looking for a transcendent experience – or just a great inside source to all things comedy, check this out! There’s tons of interviews with A-list and upcoming comics, the latest news, and a special obituary section for deceased comics. Actually that last one might have just been something we made up.
